Cefaclor, like the penicillins, is a beta-lactam antibiotic. By binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, it inhibits the bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Without a cell wall, a bacterial cell is vulnerable to outside water and molecular pressures, which causes the cell to quickly die.

It is indicated for the treatment of the following infections due to susceptible microorganisms:

Respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia, bronchitis, exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis
As part of the management of sinusitis, otitis media, skin and soft tissue infections
Urinary tract infections including pyelonephritis and cystitis

Cefaclor is for oral use
Adults: The usual adult dosage is 250mg every eight hours. For more severe infections or those caused by less susceptible organisms,doses may be doubled
Pediatric population: The usual recommended daily dosage for children is 20mg/kg/day in divided doses every eight hours
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the drug if you have or have had any of the following conditions:

Cefaclor should be administered with caution in the presence of markedly impaired renal function
Prolonged use of cefaclor may result in the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms. If superinfection occurs during therapy,appropriate measures should be taken
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications including over-the-counter non-prescription medicines, prescription medicines, herbal supplements, vitamins, and supplements.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

The average normal oral temperature is 98.6°F (37°C).
A rectal temperature is 0.5 F (0.3 C) to 1 F (0.6 C) higher than an oral temperature.
An ear (tympanic) temperature is 0.5 F (0.3 C) to 1 F (0.6 C) higher than an oral temperature.
