Mesalazine is an anti-inflammatory drug that acts locally on colonic mucosa to reduce inflammation through a variety of anti-inflammatory processes.
This medicine works inside the intestines (bowels) to reduce inflammation associated with multiple diseases. For example, mild to moderately active Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and inflammatory bowel disease

used for the treatment of inflammation of the large intestine (colon) and rectum (back passage) known by doctors as ulcerative colitis.
It may be used alone or, particularly in the acute phase, with corticosteroids.
It can also be used to control the condition and prevent it from coming back.

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Doses may change from patient to patient based on your age, your medical condition, and whether or not you are taking other medicines.
Continue taking your medicine for as long as your doctor tells you.
Do not stop taking the medicine or lower the dose without first checking with your doctor.
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Try to drink plenty of liquids daily. Focus on water and reduce caffeine
Try to eat a smaller portion and avoid heavy meals
Stop smoking as soon as possible as smoking may worsen your condition
Avoid any stress
Bowel inflammation may affect vitamins and mineral absorption so consult your physician or pharmacist about multivitamins

you experience any unexplained bleeding
You experience any chest pain
You suddenly develop abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, fever, severe headache, and rash, stop using this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
you have lung problems, in particular asthma.
you have previously had liver or kidney disease

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications including over-the-counter non-prescription medicines, prescription medicines, herbal supplements, vitamins, and supplements.

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
