The antimicrobial activity of Isoniazid is selective for mycobacteria, likely due to its ability to inhibit mycolic acid synthesis, which interferes with cell wall synthesis, thereby producing a bactericidal effect.

Isoniazid is used to treat tuberculosis (TB) infection. It may be taken alone or with one or more other medicines for TB.

You must take the tablets every day for the whole time the doctor has told you to take them.
Do not stop and start taking the tablets.
Take this medicine by mouth
Swallow the tablets whole, with a drink of water
Take at least 30 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after a meal. They are best taken at least 30 minutes before breakfast
If you feel the effect of your medicine is too weak or too strong, do not change the dose yourself, but ask your doctor
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

The average normal oral temperature is 98.6°F (37°C).
A rectal temperature is 0.5 F (0.3 C) to 1 F (0.6 C) higher than an oral temperature.
An ear (tympanic) temperature is 0.5 F (0.3 C) to 1 F (0.6 C) higher than an oral temperature.
