Levofloxacin is a bactericidal antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug class.
It inhibits DNA replication by inhibiting bacterial DNA topoisomerase and DNA-gyrase which are necessary to separate bacterial DNA, thereby inhibiting cell division.

It is indicated in the treatment of adult patients with bacterial infections in the following body parts:

Take a tablet with or without food.
Take a tablet with a full glass of water.
Take at the same time every day.
Do not take more or less than prescribed by your doctor.
Do not stop taking your medication prior to the end of prescribed duration even if you start feeling better.
Drink a lot of fluids while taking this medication.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you. The dose will depend on the severity and type of infection
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
